Advocacy Priorities
Mobilizing a coalition of diverse partners to effectively tackle complex community issues.
Greenville County is facing complex issues that no one partner alone can solve. Impact Greenville represents a coalition of diverse partners that includes local government representatives, nonprofit organizations, health providers, and community advocates for affordable housing, transit & mobility, and smarter land use.
Together we are working to identify viable "solutions" for building a community that is among the most livable and inclusive in the country -- where citizens enjoy unrivaled access to attainable housing and mobility options, and thus, more equitable opportunities to prosper.
We believe that addressing the five priorities below is critical for Greenville County’s continued success and prosperity:
Improving livability and reducing sprawl
By promoting compact development where services and infrastructure exist or are planned to be provided.
Providing more housing choices
Like carriage houses, duplexes, triplexes, and quads — especially in new and exisiting walkable neighborhoods where residents have safe, easy access to jobs, grocery stores, medical services, and transit.
Encouraging transit-oriented development
Where walking, biking, and transit are as feasible a means of travel as personal vehicles.
Expanding affordable & workforce housing
Through improved regulations, incentives, and public/private partnerships — especially in areas close to job centers.
Improving street, pedestrian, and bicycle connectivity
To provide a better foundation for safe mobility options for everyone.
